Are colors exact?
No. The images I use were taken under a true color light, but your monitor may look different than mine. Also, colors vary by dye lot from the manufacturer. The photos are a fair representation, but may not be an exact match.

What is the difference between roving and top?
Roving is a carded fiber and top is combed. The main difference is the orientation of the fibers. Top is arranged with all the fibers running the same direction. Only the longest fibers are used and it is a very high quality product that will spin a worsted yarn and give more control of felting techniques. Roving is carded and the fibers go every which way. This is desireable for some applications such as spinning a woolen yarn and felting.

Is harvesting animal fibers cruel?
For most fiber producing animals, not harvesting their wool would be cruel. That being said, there is certainly a great difference in farming techniques amongst wool producers. I carry both locally produced and commercially produced fibers, but I make every effort to obtain my wool from reputable sources.

Why do you sell fiber by the ounce?
My customers have different needs for different quantities of fibers. Felters and Paper makers may need less than a spinner. Then again, maybe you want to felt a hat. Buy what you need with per ounce pricing.
